A 6-acre tract of land behind Zachary Manor Nursing Home has been sold for nearly $1.45 million. The property was purchased by Zachary Manor Properties, which is controlled by Teddy Ray Price, who also owns the nursing home. Price says he bought the land as part of a long-term plan to replace Zachary Manor with a new nursing home over the next three to five years. “The old home would go away and we would just turn it into a parking lot or green space,” he says. Zachary Manor, which opened in the 1960s, has 110 beds, and Price says the new facility would have the same number of beds. There’s a possibility he could keep Zachary Manor open, converting it into a facility with large private rooms and amenities such as a rehabilitation therapy gym and a chapel. “That’s something we’ve done in other facilities,” he says.—Timothy Boone
