Organizations for young professionals now have a statewide supporter. A Louisiana YPO officially formed over the weekend, with the intention of serving and supporting the growing number of young professional organizations around the state. Meeting online via GoToMeeting, the group elected a portion of its board, decided to apply for non-profit status and named as its top priority the creation of a web presence. The group has yet to choose a name for itself. President is Jeremy Broussard of JB+A in Lafayette; vice president/incoming president is Jesse Hoggard, director of communications for the Louisiana Technology Park in Baton Rouge; and vice president for communications is Andrea Bacarisse of E2E Voice & Data in Lake Charles. “After much discussion, we’ve decided our focus will be directly on serving and supporting YP organizations around the state,” Hoggard says. “We feel like our group has the greatest potential to affect change by operating this way, and this is the best way to ultimately affect young leaders with our currently limited reach and resources.” In addition to supporting the dozen or so existing YP entities around the state, the new group also plans to help other communities get their own young leadership movement going. Their next meeting is set for May 8. To reach Broussard, click here. To reach Hoggard, click here.
