Phil Mickelson might be looking for something else to do this weekend. Lefty was in danger of missing the cut at the PGA Championship in Chaska, Minn., for the first time since 1995 after shooting 2-over 74 for a second straight day. The cut is projected to be 2-over, though 10 groups had yet to tee off when he finished. Steamy, blustery conditions kept Tiger Woods in the lead even before he teed off Friday, sending his tee shot into the left rough. Woods missed only two fairways on his way to a bogey-free 5-under 67 on Thursday.

Defending champ and playing partner Padraig Harrington is a stroke behind Woods. U.S. Open champion Lucas Glover (70) and Brendan Jones (70) both got to 3-under, and Vijay Singh stayed right with them after an even-par 72. Tim Clark had the round of the day so far, a 4-under 68 that has him even for the tournament. His only goof came on the last hole, when he missed a 15-footer for par.
