Anne Williamson is set to take over June 1 as the head of the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations. Williamson, who returned to LANO last month as a vice president of public policy, replaces Sister Melanie Guste, who has been president and CEO of LANO since June 2008. Guste has been named to a seat on the provincial council of her religious order, the Society of the Sacred Heart. “This is something I didn’t anticipate or expect,” says Guste, who will remain in Baton Rouge. “I accept my role as a transitional leader. I’m excited about the future possibilities because of Anne’s competency, passion and leadership.” Williamson, the former head of the state Department of Social Services, also serves as director of LANO’s Louisiana Budget Project, which monitors state spending and how it affects poor and moderate-income families. She was assistant director of LANO from 1998 to 2000.
