Rep. Mac “Bodi” White is planning to run for a newly created state Senate seat. White, R-Central, says he will be a candidate for the District 6 seat, which includes parts of East Baton Rouge, Livingston, St. Helena and Tangipahoa parishes. The District 6 seat was carved out during the spring redistricting session. White is in his second term in the House, representing District 64, which includes Central, Baker and Zachary. White cites his experience cutting taxes and investing in infrastructure. “I look forward to putting my experience in state government to work in the State Senate, and continuing to accomplish positive, forward-moving changes for my district and for the state as a whole.” The Senate election is set for Oct. 22, and qualifying begins Sept. 6.
