Forest products company Weyerhaeuser has announced a $6 million modernization plan for its Natchitoches plant that will create 30 new jobs. The company announced the plan today with Gov. Bobby Jindal. Weyerhaeuser will improve equipment at the site, adding new jobs that pay an average salary of more than $31,000 plus benefits. Jindal’s office says the upgrade project also will help keep 175 existing jobs at the plant. The state will give the Washington-based company a $300,000 modernization tax credit payable over five years, along with training assistance. Weyerhaeuser also is expected to get a manufacturing tax exemption from the state, along with a tax break for providing quality jobs with benefits. Construction is slated to start in 2013 and finish by the end of the year. LED has more details available on his website here.
