Tegan Wendland, host of Morning Edition on Baton Rouge’s National Public Radio-affiliate WRKF 89.3 FM, is leaving the radio station at the end of this month to pursue a master’s degree in life sciences communication at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Wendland, who gave notice to the station on Friday, says her last day hosting the program is tentatively set for July 27. Wendland has hosted Morning Edition for a year, since moving to the beat from All Things Considered, where she had worked for six months. A native of Wisconsin, Wendland says she plans to pursue a career in environmental reporting after completing her studies. Wendland says she’ll miss the surprising news that came each day hosting Morning Edition but not the 4 a.m. start time of each workday: “It’s tough.” She says the station currently doesn’t have a replacement for her lined up. —Adam Pearson
