Kippy Sumrall, chairman of the board for Baton Rouge-based direct mail marketing company Welcome Host, has purchased a 3,230-square-foot building and three vacant lots near the company’s headquarters for a possible expansion.

“We’re located on Perkins about two blocks down the road and we’re just out of room where we’re at,” Sumrall says.

Kippy Productions Inc., represented by Sumrall, bought the building at 13687 Perkins Road and three adjoining lots for $397,000. The seller was P&L Partnership, represented by Louis Michael Ravasio. Sumrall says he’s reached an agreement with Lawrence Design Services Inc. and another tenant in the office building that will allow them to remain there for a year.

Now in its 28th year of business, Welcome Host employs about 26 people and is headquartered in a roughly 4,400-square-foot building at 13953 Perkins Road. The company’s main client is Winn-Dixie, says Sumrall; it handles the supermarket chain’s direct mailings across the country. About three years ago, the company also added Birthday Pals, a direct mail marketing product aimed at women, to its services list.

“We just have grown and grown and grown,” says Sumrall, “and now we’ve got to start thinking about where we can grow next.”
