Waskey Bridges, which manufactures custom precast concrete construction products, has announced a $4 million expansion that is expected to create 35 direct new jobs, the Baton Rouge Area Chamber said today. Waskey currently manufactures specialized products for the oil and gas, industrial and petrochemical, road and bridge construction industries, and land developers throughout the Gulf South region. Its concrete manufacturing technology allows the company to fabricate custom precast concrete products that meet the most demanding specifications and allows engineers to design custom precast concrete products not available elsewhere. The expansion will include a new concrete batch plant, casting pads, additional buildings, and site improvements. “In late 2010, as we were about to embark on our expansion program, we had the good fortune of being approached by BRAC. The organization educated us on numerous programs and how to participate in them which translated into real savings,” said Stephen Benton Jr., president of Waskey Bridges. “Throughout the process BRAC was readily available and followed up with useful guidance.”
