Mike Wampold has purchased a 16-story building just off Canal Street in New Orleans. At press time, the sale price for the 130,000-square-foot Elks Building was not disclosed, and the transaction had not yet been filed with the Orleans Parish Clerk of Court’s office. Wampold says he plans to take his time and evaluate options for the building, which has eight floors of parking and eight floors of office space. Options include re-leasing the building for office space, converting the building to residential space with a first-floor retailer, or making a combination of residential and office space. “We even have some interest from a few hotel brands,” Wampold says. The building is along the Loyola Avenue streetcar line and opens onto Elks Place and S. Rampart Street.
