Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar is expanding to Ascension Parish, the company announced today, and plans to open a new location there by summer 2017.

Brandon Landry, Walk-On’s co-founder and owner, says in a statement that the chain has executed a franchise agreement with business partners Kevin Harrison, of Ascension Parish, and Miles Holley, of East Baton Rouge Parish. They are currently scouting sites in Ascension Parish, the company says.

Harrison is a native of Assumption Parish and recently retired from a 38-year career in law enforcement. He even served as U.S. Marshal of the federal Middle District of Louisiana.

In a statement, Harrison says he became interested in the Walk-On’s brand while talking to Landry about his post-retirement interests.

“Brandon gave me the pros and cons of restaurant ownership, then fate stepped in months later when Walk-On’s began franchising,” he says. “I have a large family that loves sports and sports bars, so that was a very fortunate meeting for me. I’m no expert in running a restaurant, but I know a ton about serving people. I can’t wait to bring Walk-On’s to the good folks of Ascension Parish.”

Holley is a Baton Rouge native who, along with his wife, started and expanded the Skid Marks Tires & Auto Service chain from his home base in Gonzales.

“Ever since we sold our business about a year ago, we’ve been looking forward to the next chapter in our careers,” Holley says. “I couldn’t be more excited about teaming with Kevin to open our first Walk-On’s. It’s been my favorite restaurant for as long as I can remember, and I think it is an absolutely perfect concept for Ascension Parish.”

Walk-On’s is based in Baton Rouge, and now has nine locations in Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lafayette, Houma, Shreveport, Lake Charles and in Lubbock, Texas.

Other locations are being planned for Zachary, Covington, Alexandria, Bossier City and Metairie, as well as Dallas/Fort Worth, Houston, San Antonio, Tyler and South Texas.
