A Brooklyn, New York-based investor has purchased the recently-opened Walgreens pharmacy building at the intersection of Plank and Groom roads in Baker for $6,431,734.

The pharmacy opened in October, says Larry Rabin, who represents the seller, FR&W Baker LLC. Rabin, who is also the director of the retail division for Corporate Realty in New Orleans, says FR&W Baker was behind the development of the Walgreens and had planned to sell it after completion.

The buyer, according to land records filed with the East Baton Rouge Clerk of Court, is 6485 Groom LLC, represented by sole member Halsted S. Welles. Rabin says the buyer made the purchase as an investment. The store measures about 14,500 square feet. The sale closed on Tuesday, according to sales records.
