Waitr is releasing its own branded craft beer today in partnership with Lake Charles-based Crying Eagle Brewing Company.

The beer—called A Nice Pear—will be on tap in restaurants and bars in Baton Rouge, Lafayette and Lake Charles. A Nice Pear is a Saison brewed with organic pear juice and fermented with Northern French Saison yeast, according to a news release. The beer is then dry-hopped with Bramling Cross hops to add orchard-fruit notes.

Locally, A Nice Pear can be found at The Chimes near LSU, Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar on Burbank Drive, Red Zeppelin Pizza, The Overpass Merchant, The Londoner and Sammy’s Grill in Prairieville.

The brew includes pear because of its floral sweetness and the color reflects the green found in the Waitr logo. CEO Chris Meaux says he hopes the Waitr-branded beer will drive business to the food delivery service’s restaurant partners.

“Waitr is committed to fueling the success of its restaurant partners and that means doing things that drive business into their restaurants,” says Meaux, who developed the idea for the craft beer with Crying Eagle Brewing President Eric Avery.

Waitr also announced the launch of a Thanksgiving food drive called “Share Thanksgiving,” allowing users of the app to donate between $2 to $10. Waitr and its restaurant partners will match a portion of their customers’ donations. The meals will be prepared by local restaurants, and Waitr will deliver the meals to hungry families during Thanksgiving week.
