WAFB Channel 9 says Kiran Chawla is moving from her role as weekend anchor to a leadership position at the station’s investigative journalism unit known as the “9NEWS I-Team.” Chawla will help lead the unit and increase the number of in-depth investigative reports she contributes, says WAFB News Director Robb Hays. Chawla’s last night as weekend anchor was Sunday. Meanwhile, Graham Ulkins has been named weekend evening anchor. A native of Baton Rouge, Ulkins will continue to contribute to weekday morning newscasts. He has been with WAFB since 2007, formerly as a traffic reporter. Chawla has been with the station since September 2010. “These are great moves for our news team,” Hays says. “Chawla has proven herself as a great investigative journalist and is excited about taking on more responsibility. Graham is extremely talented and is thrilled about this new opportunity.” —Steve Sanoski
