Vivid Ink Graphics, the area’s largest supplier of signs and graphic solutions, has acquired Acadian Signs, a 16-year-old family-owned business based in Denham Springs. The acquisition will allow Vivid Ink to expand its product line to include outdoor flags and way-finding signage, which were Acadian Signs’ areas of specialty.
“The proud 16-year history of service to its clients made Acadian signs a natural fit,” Vivid Ink President Stephen St. Cyr says. “Vivid Ink customers will now have more choice than ever before when addressing their visual communication needs.”
Vivid Ink, which established itself as a large-format printer, has grown rapidly in recent years, and the acquisition of Acadian Signs will enable the company to continue its growth. St. Cyr estimates the company will see about a 5% increase, or $400,000, in annual revenues. Last year, Vivid Ink did more than $8.5 million in sales.
Acadian Signs owner Dale Mayeux will assist with the transition but will not stay on with Vivid Ink, St. Cyr says. Several non-family employees of Acadian Signs will be employed by Vivid Ink and will work out of the company’s new $2.1 million headquarters, the 31,000-square-foot building at Florida Boulevard and Airline Highway once occupied by Circuit City.
Acadian Signs’ Denham Springs office at 30068 Barnett Road will be closed. The acquisition is the second for Vivid Ink. In 2012, the company acquired MBC Signs, which St. Cyr describes as “another small operation that was merged into Vivid Ink.”
In both cases, his company was approached by the smaller businesses about a buyout, a trend that is happening more frequently.
“We’re getting approached more and more,” he says. “When it makes sense for us we’ll do other acquisitions. We’re not interested in running a separate operation but if it can be merged into ours we’ll consider it.” —Stephanie Riegel
