The owners of Chinese Combo King on West Chimes Street have closed the restaurant after more than five and a half years in business, The Daily Reveille reports. But the LSU Northgate location won’t be vacant for long.
Alice and Morris Lo—who shut down the Chinese restaurant to take care of Morris’ sick mother in Taiwan—have sold the building at 166 W. Chimes St. to friends Lan and Vu Nguyen, who plan to open a Vietnamese restaurant in the spot by Feb. 2.
The Nguyens, who operate the Little Saigon restaurant on Florida Boulevard, will call the West Chimes Street location Little Saigon II.
“I have a lot of customers ask for another one on this side of town, but then I can’t find location,” Lan Nguyen tells the LSU student newspaper, adding Alice Lo has been a friend and patron of her restaurant for about five years. “But one of my customers, Alice, they come over there every Sunday, and she told me she wants to leave and she wants me to come over here to do a Vietnamese restaurant.”
