A pair of software development firms—one aiming to launch a new social media app to bring community ideas to fruition, and the other focused on developing software for the seafood industry—have joined the Louisiana Technology Park on Florida Boulevard. ClearBlue Design and Blue Fin Data are now part of the tech park’s incubator program.
ClearBlue is working on a new social media app called Freebird. The app will allow anonymous idea “liberators” to present an idea for public viewing and let people from the community to weigh in on the idea with a vote. Concepts that receive more than 50% of user approval are opened up to the community of users, who then can propose steps to accomplish the idea.
BlueFin, meanwhile, is developing software products that offer a digital alternative to pen and paper reporting on the Atlantic and Gulf coasts for use in the seafood industry.
“Our goal is to meet the data collection demands from various government agencies, while improving the seafood industry for the better, through transparency between seafood dealers and government agencies,” says BlueFin Chief Developer Andrew Peterson in a prepared statement.
The tech park provides start-up companies with resources to bring their products and services to market faster and more effectively. The park’s pre-incubator program provides specialized training, resources and support designed to guide and assist entrepreneurs in evaluating and developing their ideas and ultimately developing a business plan.
