The Louisiana State Police Retirement System and the New Orleans City Employees Retirement System are two of the clients that showed up in a 162-page list of clients of Bernard Madoff. The list, which was filed in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan, doesn’t reveal how much the groups invested with Madoff, who is accused of running a $50 billion Ponzi scheme. Officials with the state police and the New Orleans employees told the Times-Picayune last month they had no idea their funds were being invested with Madoff. The State Police say a Swiss private bank deposited up to $400,000 of their money with a hedge fund that was invested in Madoff. The City Employees Retirement had $400,000 invested with funds of funds controlled by Madoff. In December, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation said it lost about $600,000 in investments it placed with Madoff.
