A pair of Baton Rouge firms are among a dozen in the state receiving fines, probation and/or license suspensions from the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors for participation in a troubled state election program, The Times-Picayune reports. The JW Construction Group and Louisiana Foundation Solutions were each fined at a LSLBC compliance meeting Thursday. It was the second such meeting in as many months as the state tries to get a handle on a $750 million elevation grant program that’s been beset by shoddy work, unlicensed contractors and allegations of graft. For allowing its license to be used by another contractor on two projects, JW Construction Group received a $2,000 fine, plus a $500 administrative fee, and was placed on probation for a year. Louisiana Foundation Solutions got an $8,000 fine, plus a $500 administrative fee, for operating on at least two jobs without the proper contractor’s license.
