The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Okla., has issued a tornado watch for south-central and southeast Louisiana, including all parishes in the Capital Region, until 9 p.m. Tornadoes, large hail to 1.5 inches, thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph and dangerous lightning strikes are possible in the watch area. A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area, and persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for statements and possible warnings.
