LSU Student Incubator company Tonal Innovation now has an app to go along with its e-Flip device.

The startup recently released UNISON, an app for marching bands to store and share their inventory of music and programming. Billed as a way for marching bands to go paperless, the app allows directors to create a digital library of files that can easily be distributed to ensembles.

Tonal Innovation is known for its e-Flip device, an adjustable clamp marching band members can use to  mount iPhones and tablets to their instruments.

The company was founded by Garrett Kessling and Daniel Wendt, who developed the idea as members of the LSU Tiger Band.

Kessling and Wendt represented LSU at the SEC Symposium’s student entrepreneur competition, where they pitched the e-Flip. They won fourth place. The duo also placed second at the LSU Student Incubator’s 2016 Venture Cup Challenge.

UNISON complements e-Flip, a news release says. Version 1.0 is available in time for the fall marching band season for a fee of $5 per user.

Cyberfision, an LSU Student Incubator graduate company, built the app for Tonal Innovation.

Kessling and Wendt already have orders for the new software app. They presented their concept, “How Bands can go Paperless,” at the CBDNA Athletic Band Director’s Conference June 1-3, and the University of Oklahoma purchased 350 software licenses for their band. The duo also has signed up five bands for the software and are answering requests nationally.
