Eight home games, including Southeastern Conference contests against Alabama and South Carolina in Tiger Stadium, highlight LSU’s 2012 football schedule, the SEC announced this morning with the release of next year’s slate for all 14 conference teams. The Tigers played just six home games this season. LSU plays at Western Division newcomer Texas A&M on Oct. 20 to mark the Tigers’ first game in College Station since the 1995 season opener; Missouri, which joins the Eastern Division, is not on LSU’s schedule in 2012. The Tigers retain their rivalry with Florida, playing the Gators on Oct. 6 in Gainesville. LSU opens the season Sept. 1 against North Texas. The SEC says the 2012 schedule is not based on any other previous or future scheduling formats, and conference athletic directors will convene in the spring to begin formulating scheduling principles for the 2013 season and beyond.
