Free tickets can be reserved now for a full day and evening of seminars, guest speakers and roundtable discussions scheduled for Louisiana Entrepreneurship Day on Feb. 15 at the Hilton Baton Rouge Capitol Center. Although the event is the first of its kind, Kevin Langley says that doesn’t mean there isn’t a thriving community of entrepreneurs across Baton Rouge and the Pelican State. “It’s there, it exists and it’s a very healthy community. Unfortunately, it goes largely unnoticed, but we’re hoping to change that,” says Langley, chairman-elect of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, which is partnering with Business Report, 10/12 Magazine, the Baton Rouge Area Chamber and LSU Stephenson Entrepreneurship Institute to present the events.
About 30 startup businesses are actively moving through Baton Rouge’s three entrepreneurship incubators at any given time, says BRAC President/CEO Adam Knapp, and that doesn’t include all the innovators out there tinkering with business plans in their basements and spare bedrooms. Knapp says the Louisiana Entrepreneurship Day perfectly dovetails with the recent launch of BRAC’s regional innovation organization, which will work with local assets such as LSU, Southern University and Pennington Biomedical Research Center to better connect and support area entrepreneurs.
The daylong event will offer information for entrepreneurs at all stages, from those with little more than an idea to those with established and growing businesses. Information on how to sign up for the new Baton Rouge chapter of EO’s Accelerator Program will also be available. All events are free, but attendees will need a ticket.
