Four incumbent members of Louisiana’s congressional delegation won reelection Tuesday, while two remaining U.S. House races are expected to head to December runoffs, Louisiana Illuminator reports.

U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-Benton, and Majority Leader Steve Scalise, R-Jefferson, both secured decisive victories but will have to relinquish their leadership positions as Republicans prepare to lose control of the House.

Campaign finance data shows Johnson raised $24.58 million and spent $19.32 million, while Scalise raised $11.17 million and spent $12.39 million. Both directed millions toward Republican campaign efforts nationwide, including contributions to the National Republican Congressional Committee. Johnson also raised more than $150 million for Republican congressional members and candidates in his role as speaker.

U.S. Rep. Clay Higgins, R-Lafayette, won reelection after raising $904,294 and spending $662,390, while U.S. Rep. Troy Carter, D-New Orleans, secured another term with $1.9 million raised and $1.82 million spent. Carter’s campaign received the lion’s share of its contributions from labor unions and corporate political action committees, while his largest spending recipient was Angerholzer Broz Consulting, a Washington, D.C.-based fundraising firm.
