After more than 15 years in its current location in the Southdowns Village Shopping Center on Perkins Road, Thai Kitchen is relocating to a new building at 4550 Concord Dr., which is off College Drive near Dawson’s Creek.

The restaurant’s owner, Punnee Sanguanruang, bought the building in late July from Heck Properties for $625,000. Renovations to the 6,000-square-foot space are currently underway and the move is expected to be complete in the next two or three weeks.

At its new location, Thai Kitchen will change its name to Thai Kitchen Fusion and will feature an expanded menu featuring a variety of Asian fusion dishes, as well as its traditional favorites. The restaurant will also have a regular happy hour and a weekly steak night.

This will be Thai Kitchen’s fourth location since opening in 1989 in Sherwood Forest. The restaurant later moved to Florida Boulevard before moving to Southdowns Village in 1999. Earlier this year, the restaurant’s owners had a purchase agreement on a property on Bennington Avenue but that deal fell through.

The Concord Drive space will be slightly larger than Thai Kitchen’s existing 5,000-square-foot location. The building previously housed a personal fitness center, Body Mechanics, and was home to Phil’s Oyster Bar for several years in the mid-2000s.
