Baton Rouge-based MMO Behavioral Health Systems has been acquired by Tennessee-based Acadia Healthcare Company Inc., bringing MMO’s Baton Rouge and Covington facilities under Acadia’s multinational umbrella.
MMO, formerly Medical Management Options, operates two acute inpatient behavioral health facilities with 80 total beds. It was founded in Baton Rouge in 1993 with four employees. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. MMO generated $16 million in revenue in a 12-month period that ended in September.
Attempts to reach MMO executives before this morning’s deadline were unsuccessful.
“MMO is a long-standing provider of quality behavioral health services in its markets, and we are pleased to add their facilities and their strong team to our operations,” Joey Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Acadia, says in a news release. “This transaction strengthens our presence in Louisiana and gives us our first inpatient behavioral health facilities in the Baton Rouge and greater New Orleans markets.
Acadia Healthcare Company owns and operates 258 behavioral health facilities with more than 9,900 beds in 39 states, Puerto Rico and the United Kingdom. It provides psychiatric and chemical dependency services to patients at inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment centers, outpatient clinics and therapeutic school-based programs.
“We believe we are well-positioned to produce long-term organic growth in these facilities and in these markets,” Jacobs says. “In addition, this transaction is representative of our ongoing opportunities to drive long-term growth through our acquisition strategy, both domestically and in the United Kingdom.”
