Gov. Bobby Jindal’s chief of staff has left his state job to work full-time on the governor’s re-election campaign. Timmy Teepell is no longer on the state payroll. Jindal spokesman Kyle Plotkin says the governor’s executive counsel, Stephen Waguespack, is working as Jindal’s acting chief of staff. Jindal, a Republican in office since 2008, is seeking election to a second term in October. No word was given on whether Teepell will return to the chief of staff job after the election. Teepell has been chief of staff since Jindal took office and has been the chief architect of political strategy for Jindal since he was elected to Congress in 2004. Last fall, Teepell left his post for three months to work on Republican gubernatorial campaigns in other states.
