TEDxLSU features mix of local entrepreneurs, professors and activists

From a bicycling activist to a NASA scientist—and seemingly everything in between—the lineup of speakers for a first-of-its-kind event at LSU next week comprises local entrepreneurs, professors, professionals and activists. The TEDxLSU: Evolve conference, which will take place on Saturday, March 9, will essentially be a local version of the annual TED Conference in Long Beach, Calif., at which some of the world’s leading thinkers are invited to speak. The TED Conference speakers have included Bill Gates, Al Gore and Jane Goodall, among others, in years past. For the local event, presenters include Casey Phillips, Camille Manning-Broome, Kenny Nguyen, Pat Fellows, Keith Comeaux, Mary Stein, Zack Kopplin and Mark Martin, among others. Each will be given 18 minutes to give the “talk of their life” focusing on the power of ideas. Tickets are $100 for the event, which will be held in the Reilly Theatre on campus from 12:30 to 8 p.m. However, free tickets to watch a simulcast of the event at the Shaver Theatre on campus are also available.
