The Louisiana Technology Park has extended until Jan. 10 the deadline to apply for its class for rising entrepreneurs, Tech Park U. The eight-week program begins Jan. 16, and provides technology entrepreneurs with the education and facilities to take their ideas from the drawing board to a functional business. In its sixth year, the program has brought entrepreneurs from south Louisiana, including the Capital Region, Metro New Orleans and the Northshore. The cost for each entrepreneur or team accepted into the program is $200, which includes office space, support services, and office resources including their own cubicle with phone, high-speed Internet access, email, secretarial support, free use of fax, printers and copy machines, and secure access office and meeting space, for the entirety of the program. The cost for students with a valid school ID is $100. Classes will meet every Monday from 5:30-7:30 p.m. At the end of the program, the members will compete in a business plan writing competition, where the winner will receive a $2,000 grant and possible acceptance into the Louisiana Technology Park’s business incubator.
