Whether you’re rooting for No. 1 LSU or No. 2 Alabama, your search for a ticket to attend the BCS title game in New Orleans is going to leave a big hole in your wallet. As of midday Thursday, the cheapest seat available on StubHub—in the Terrace west end zone—was going for $1,065. At TicketsNow, the official ticket resale site, a similar ticket in the west end zone—row 28 in section 634—was going for $1,118. And the prices for the Jan. 9 national championship, which kicks off at 7:30 p.m. in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, appear to be rising. In both cases, the tickets were about $100 more than similar tickets available Wednesday. If you want to go a bit bigger, you can package a ticket with a VIP pregame hospitality program—in the Superdome’s Claiborne Club Lounge, including an open bar, Cajun cuisine, live New Orleans music and celebrities—through PrimeSport, the official VIP hospitality package provider. That will cost you $1,389.05 for the hospitality program and a seat in the Terrace: section 610, row 36, between the 10- and 20-yard lines. “In the years we’ve been doing it, this is about the toughest ticket we’ve seen,” said Glenn Lehrman, head of communications at StubHub, one of the biggest secondary marketers of tickets. “Right now, you’re looking at about $1,000 just to get in the stadium, and the highest we’ve seen paid is about $5,500.” To read more, click here.
