David Guillory
East Baton Rouge Parish Public Works Director
2003 to 2013
After a career spent exclusively in the public sector, David Guillory says the leap to private industry required some adjusting. “It moves a whole lot faster,” he says. “Decisions are made a lot faster, which I like. There is a lot more freedom.”
He now works as director of business development at Compliance EnviroSystems, one of the largest providers of sewer and storm drain services. CES handles work on sewer programs in Louisiana and across the country in cities like New Orleans, Shreveport, Nashville and Memphis.
“Anything that has to do with sewer and drainage, we handle,” Guillory says. “Mainly, we address aging subsurface infrastructure. Once municipalities have problems, we come in and help with that.”
Guillory continues to remain busy in all aspects of life. He vacated his Public Works position in May 2013, then married one week later. He and his wife welcomed son David, their first child, in February. Plus, Guillory will complete his master’s degree in public administration from LSU by the end of this summer.
“Life is good. I really enjoy my job. I am still very passionate about the city of Baton Rouge and everything that is happening in it,” he says. “Everything I was involved in I am still involved in. I’m a civil engineer, and infrastructure is my thing. This is my home, and I plan to stay here. I wouldn’t leave Baton Rouge for anything.”
