The closing of Staring Lane between Highland Road and Kingcrest Parkway that was previously announced to begin on April 9 is being postponed by two days, the city-parish announced today. The closure will now begin at midnight on Wednesday. Staring Lane will be closed for three weeks as part of a Green Light Plan project to widen the roadway. The city-parish says it has postponed the delay to accommodate the extended holiday weekend and to allow time for construction crews to prepare the area for construction to begin. Officials add they do not expect the postponement of the closure to affect the overall timeline of the project. Plans call for workers to reopen the roadway on or before Wednesday, May 2, at midnight, weather permitting. Motorists are being advised to use Highland Road, Bluebonnet Boulevard and Perkins Road as primary detours during the closure. Access to the closed segment will be limited to local traffic and residential service providers.
