Grant tours campus: Virginia Commonwealth Coach Anthony Grant flew into Tuscaloosa, Ala., today for a second round of meetings with Alabama officials seeking a replacement for Mark Gottfried. Grant and his wife, Christina, arrived about 10 a.m. for meetings with university officials and a campus tour, athletics spokesman Doug Walker said. Grant also met with Alabama officials Sunday in Virginia, the Associated Press reported. Grant declined comment to reporters today before leaving with Athletic Director Mal Moore and several trustees for meetings, including one with President Robert Witt. Grant, 42, a former Florida assistant under Billy Donovan, has led VCU to two NCAA Tournament appearances in the past three seasons. He also has been linked to openings at Georgia and Virginia.

Bankruptcy hearing next week: Suspended NFL star Michael Vick has left a federal lockup in Kansas, apparently bound for Virginia to appear at a bankruptcy hearing next week. The U.S. Bureau of Prisons Web site showed today that Vick was no longer at the federal penitentiary in Leavenworth, Kan. It listed his status as “in transit.” It was not clear when he left, or where he was. But two weeks ago, U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Frank Santoro demanded that Vick testify at an April 2 hearing in Newport News about whether his Chapter 11 bankruptcy plan should be confirmed. Vick is serving 23 months for bankrolling a dogfighting conspiracy. He is eligible to move into home confinement no earlier than May 21 and is scheduled to be released from custody on July 20.
