Rupp gone after four seasons: Kerry Rupp has been fired after four seasons as the Louisiana Tech men’s basketball coach. School officials announced the firing today, saying they will buy out the last year of Rupp’s contract. While Rupp raised the academic standing of the Bulldogs’ basketball team, The Shreveport Times noted he wasn’t that successful on the court: Rupp had a record of 57-69. The Tech team finished last in the WAC this past season, missing out on the conference tournament.
Razorback return: Mike Anderson is set to meet today with Arkansas officials about coaching the men’s basketball team at the university. Anderson, who has coached at Missouri since 2006, is expected to take the job, reports ESPN. Anderson was a longtime assistant coach at Arkansas, and he was interim coach of the Razorbacks in 2002, after Nolan Richardson was fired with two games left in the season. Anderson would replace John Pelphrey, who was fired after four seasons.
