Checking the cash flow: After signing some players to future contracts, the New Orleans Saints now have $140.9 million committed toward the 2013 salary cap, ESPN reports. That means the Saints will have to trim more than $20 million just to get under the cap at the start of free agency in March. They’ll have to trim even more than that if they want to re-sign left tackle Jermon Bushrod and some other potential free agents. Birds of a feather: Andy Reid was in deep negotiations with the Kansas City Chiefs to become their next coach, a person familiar with the situation tells The Associated Press. The two sides were working out the details and Reid had canceled plans to interview for other openings, according to the anonymous source. The Philadelphia Eagles fired Reid on Monday, the same day the Chiefs parted ways with coach Romeo Crennel. You can find the full story here.

Sunday television talk: Ray Lewis appears to have provided a template for anybody looking to rehabilitate their image, The Los Angeles Times reports. Now, the day after Lewis announced he will retire after the playoffs, he’s reportedly close to signing a multiyear broadcasting deal with ESPN, which is owned by Disney. Read the full story here.
