After less than six months in business, Spice Bistro & Bar has shut down. The restaurant, which was at 8342 Perkins Road in the Perkins Panache shopping center, opened last October and closed earlier this spring without bothering to give notice to property manager David Persac.
“They didn’t notify us they were closing,” Persac says. “I can’t really say what happened.”
The restaurant was co-owned by Nathian Hossley and Terral Jackson Jr., who had subleased the 5,000-square-foot space from the previous tenant, Le Bon Temps Bar and Grill.
As reported Wednesday by Daily Report, the Capital Area Transit System said a construction company co-owned by Hossley defaulted on its agreement to install 30 new bus shelters for the transit agency. CATS has terminated its contract with the company, First Millennium Construction, and is contemplating legal action against the firm, which only completed 20 of the bus shelters.
Hossley could not be reached for comment. Real estate broker Chris Shaheen, who handles leasing for Perkins Panache, says he has had several potential tenants express interest in the restaurant space but has been unable to get the keys back from owners of the defunct restaurant to show the space.
“People are interested in the space,” Shaheen says. “I just haven’t been able to get in there to show it to anybody.”
