Six LCTCS schools among the nation’s fastest-growing

Six colleges in the Louisiana Community and Technical College System rank among fastest-growing two-year public institutions in the nation, according to a report by Community College Week. The report ranks the top 50 fastest-growing public two-year colleges in four categories, which range from “fewer than 2,500 students” to “10,000 or more students.” The six Louisiana schools are Delgado Community College in New Orleans, L.E. Fletcher Technical Community System in Houma, Louisiana Delta Community College in Monroe, Nunez Community College in Chalmette, River Parishes Community College in Sorrento and Sowela Technical Community College in Lake Charles. The results are based on data collected between fall 2009 and fall 2010. River Parishes Community College is the state’s fastest-growing public two-year college with a 42% increase in enrollment. The report also ranked each state according to the 10-year trend in total enrollment at public two-year and associate-degree colleges. Louisiana ranked fourth with a 64% increase in total enrollment since 2001.
