The Shaw Group has been awarded a contract to provide engineering support services for a new small modular power nuclear reactor. The value of the contract with SMR, a subsidiary of Holtec International, was not disclosed. The deal calls for Shaw to develop the conceptual design for the 140-megawatt reactor, which would generate enough energy to power nearly 117,000 homes. This work is aimed at advancing the reactor toward commercial application.
