The Shaw Group has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China’s State Nuclear Power Technology Corporation. The deal, which allows both companies to issue tasks to support each other in building plant infrastructure, further solidifies Shaw’s role in the expanding Chinese nuclear market. A consortium that includes Shaw currently has contracts with the SNPTC to build four advanced nuclear power plants in Shandong and Zhejiang provinces; last week the foundation for the one of the Zhejiang units started being poured. The Chinese government plans to build at least 30 new nuclear plants by 2020.
