Shaw lands contract with nation’s largest nuclear plant

The Shaw Group says it has inked a new contract with Arizona Public Service Co. to provide maintenance, modifications, construction and radiological protection services for the latter’s Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Arizona. Located 55 miles west of Phoenix, Palo Verde is the largest nuclear power plant in the U.S., with three reactors capable of producing more than 4,000 megawatts of electricity. The value of the three-year contract was not disclosed. Shaw is a leading provider of nuclear maintenance, providing system-wide maintenance and modification services to 44 of the 104 operating nuclear power reactors in the nation, including the country’s two largest nuclear fleets. APS is Arizona’s largest and oldest electric service utility, serving more than 1.1 million customers in 11 of the state’s 15 counties.
