Holiday travelers, beware. A tornado watch is in effect for southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi until 1 p.m. as a line of strong and occasionally severe thunderstorms continues to move east. The National Weather Service’s New Orleans-Baton Rouge forecast office says frequent lightning and heavy rains are likely, as well as wind gusts reaching 45 mph, which could bring down tree limbs and power lines. As of 10 a.m., the tornado watch has been discontinued for East and West Baton Rouge, East and West Feliciana, Iberville, Pointe Coupee and St. Helena parishes in the Capital Region, and the line of severe thunderstorms had moved east of the region and stretched from Franklinton to LaPlace to Houma.
