Mississippi-based Waring Oil Company has purchased property owned by Lavigne Oil Company of Baton Rouge.
The sale follows Waring Oil Company’s recent acquisition of Lavigne Oil earlier this week.
Waring Oil Company LLC purchased the 1.5-acre tract on Proverbs Avenue near Coursey Boulevard from Lavigne Oil Company of Baton Rouge LLC for $1.2 million, according to a deal filed Thursday with the East Baton Rouge Parish Clerk of Court.
Leyton Lavigne represented Lavigne Oil Company LLC; Howard Waring, Waring Oil Company LLC.
Lavigne Oil has been in the fuel supply business in the Baton Rouge area for more than five decades. Waring supplies wholesale fuels, lubricants, greases, and specialty lubes. The acquisition brings Waring into the Louisiana market. The company’s geographic footprint also expands across Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama.
Waring Oil will continue to provide products and services to Lavigne Oil customers. According to the announcement, Kevin Cutrer, who handled fleet fuel sales at Lavigne, will remain with Waring Oil as an outside salesperson. Waring Oil now owns all fuel tanks previously owned by Lavigne Oil.
Daniel Pierson Waring opened the first Waring Oil service station in Vicksburg, Mississippi, in 1938.
