Ascension Parish economic development and small business officials announced today that the second annual Small Business Power Week will be held Aug. 15-19.
The weeklong event will feature programs, services and groups available to assist small business owners with any problem or hurdle they may encounter, according to a news release from the Microbusiness Network of Louisiana.
Among the highlights of the week is the Ascension Chamber of Commerce’s Business Expo 2016 trade show in the banquet hall on the second floor of the Lamar Dixon Expo Center on Aug. 17, which is being recognized as Small Business Power Day in Ascension Parish.
Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Don Pierson Jr. and Mike Eades, president and CEO of the Ascension Economic Development Corporation, will provide a “State of the Economy” report during the luncheon, which costs $25 per person.
The event begins with registration at 7:30 a.m.
Other events will take place throughout the community in Prairieville, Sorrento, Donaldsonville and Gonzales.
“Each community in the parish will celebrate its own Small Business Power Day where attendees can learn about the resources available to help them start or grow their small businesses,” Eades says in a statement. “During the free workshops, attendees are encouraged to bring questions, business plans, financials, and other related information to get help directly from the experts during a series of power coaching sessions.”
Small Business Power Workshops are free and open to the public, but preregistration is required.
