The RV Shop, a locally owned recreational vehicle retailer, has filed an application with the city-parish Planning Commission to create a sales and service center on a five-acre site at the Greens at Millerville.
The RV Shop would relocate to the new site from its longtime location at 14340 S. Choctaw and would be the first commercial tenant to begin development at The Greens at Millerville, located at Interstate 12 and Millerville Road. As first reported by Daily Report earlier this year, Richards Honda inked a deal with developer Windy Gladney to relocate to the development, but the dealership has not yet filed any plans.
The RV Shop’s general manager, Tyson Vince, says his family decided to relocate the business it has owned since 1976 because of the exposure the new location will offer.
“We’ve been looking for a new site for a while,” Vince says. “We wanted the exposure from the interstate frontage so we are pumped.”
The new location would include about 2.5 acres of RVs as well as a 2,500-square-foot service and parts department with 15 service bays. Vince said he hopes to begin construction on the new facility late this year and to be open for business by late summer 2016.
