RSD opens Parent Center in Baton Rouge

The Recovery School District announced today the opening of a Parent Center for the seven Baton Rouge Achievement Zone schools under its purview. The center is located at Lanier Elementary School, 4705 Lanier Dr., and will serve as “a central location for parents and family members to receive the support and services they need to develop sustaining relationships with schools,” the RSD says. The Parent Center—which will be staffed Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.—will answer parents’ questions and assist them in the overall enrollment process. Visitors to the center will also have access to computer services, in addition to various programs offered throughout the year, including financial literacy classes and computer training classes. Parents will have the opportunity to meet with principals at Baton Rouge Achievement Zone schools—which include Istrouma High, Capitol High, Prescott Middle, Glen Oaks Middle, Crestworth Academy, Dalton Elementary and Lanier Elementary—between Thursday and July 3.
