Lafayette-based Double R Restaurant Group is planning to expand its Baton Rouge footprint with the development of two restaurants—Romacelli Bistro e Vino and Another Broken Egg Café—on Airline Highway near Long Farm Village.

It will be the city’s first Romacelli location and its fourth Another Broken Egg. The restaurants will be located next to one another on a 1.6-acre plot of land, Double R says. Both restaurants will have indoor seating and will share an outdoor patio. A timeline for the construction or opening of the restaurants was not included in an announcement from Double R issued this morning.

Romacelli is an Italian and Mediterranean-themed restaurant serving pizzas, pasta dishes, sandwiches and salads. Double R Restaurant Group has two Romacelli locations in Lafayette and one in Youngsville. Additional locations are in development at the Conway in Gonzales, as well as in Central, Monroe and Lake Charles.

About a year ago, the restaurant group announced its plans to expand its restaurant portfolio throughout Louisiana and the Capital Region. At the time, Double R Restaurant Group said it wanted to open six new Romacelli restaurants, five new Pour Restaurant and Bars, a new steakhouse concept and add 25 Another Broken Egg locations in the southeast through 2018.

“As Baton Rouge continues to grow, we felt the time was right to introduce our Italian restaurant concept to the market,” Double R President Stuart Ottinger says in a statement.

Double R owns the three other Another Broken Egg locations in Baton Rouge, which are among 36 restaurants the group operates across the southeast. Ben Stalter with Maestri-Murrell Commercial Real Estate brokered the purchase of the land on which the restaurants will be located. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
