Former Gov. Buddy Roemer is in Washington, D.C., today, meeting with reporters and discussing his presidential campaign. This comes two weeks after the Republican held a press conference in Baton Rouge to say he was forming an exploratory committee for the 2012 presidential race. The Wall Street Journal has a profile today of Roemer that notes, while his campaign may be a long shot, he impressed some political observers in Iowa. Roemer went to the state last week for a candidate event organized by religious conservatives. One Iowa political blogger called Roemer “one of the most interesting candidates of the night” at the event, which former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain also attended. Read the profile here.
