Two major Baton Rouge streets are set to temporarily close over the next few days. All lanes of River Road, from Brightside Lane to Ben Hur Road, have been closed. The Department of Transportation and Development says it shut down the section, which is less than a mile, to allow crews to finish putting sandbags and seepage monitors on the levee. The closure will last about three days. DOTD officials say the Duncan Point cape is known as a seepage area, but there is no immediate threat of flooding.
On Saturday, a section of O’Neal Lane from South Harrell’s Ferry and George O’Neal roads will be closed from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. City-parish crews say the road will be closed for drainage work that is part of the Green Light Project. O’Neal is in the process of being widened.
