Plans to put a police substation and an art gallery in the storefront of a state-run parking garage on Third Street are on hold as the agent negotiates with a restaurant that is interested in the space. There had been talk about setting up a substation in the middle of the downtown arts and entertainment district, and for the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge to open an exhibition space in the building. Brad Way of NAI/Latter & Blum says the substation and the gallery are still possibilities if the private sector client falls through. Way says the property is hard to lease because the space is not fully built out; the room still has a dirt floor.—David Jacobs
