KKR & Co. LP, an American multinational private equity firm, is investing in Houston-based Resource Environmental Solutions to support the company’s next phase of growth and development.

Though a news release describes the investment as “substantial,” financial details for the transaction have not been disclosed.

RES President and CEO Elliott Bouillion says the company has been working with KKR for about 18 months and decided that KKR’s resources and expertise is an ideal partner.

“Our partnership with KKR allows us to complete our nationwide delivery model and evolve into a global supplier of ecological solutions,” Bouillion says. Since its founding, RES has conserved 155 miles of streams and more than 40,000 acres of wetlands.

RES was founded in Baton Rouge in 2007. It has since moved its headquarters to Houston but has retained its local staff. RES is one of the largest ecological solutions provider in the United States.

The company, which has a regional office at 412 N. Fourth St. in Baton Rouge and another in Lafayette, performs ecological habitat establishment, restoration, conservation and enhancement in Louisiana.

RES also is one of the largest providers of wetland mitigation services in Louisiana.

The company founded its first Louisiana wetland mitigation bank in 2007, and it became the largest mitigation supplier for the Haynesville Shale in 2010.

KKR will make its investment from its 11th Americas Private Equity investment fund, and it will become a part of its Green Solutions Platform, which supports environmental initiatives across eco-efficiencies, eco-solutions and eco-innovations.

Earlier this month, RES also announced that it planted its 10 millionth restorative tree.
